The Birthday Party

Once upon a time there were four mice: two children and their mother and father. The children's names were John and Samantha.
One night, Samantha said to John," I wish we could have a party." "We can't," answered her brother. "All the other mice are too far away and it would be too hard." For you see, these mice lived in a human house. "Well, I still wish we could have a party," said Samantha grumpily. Then they were quiet because it was their bedtime and they were supposed to be asleep. Their parents heard them though, and talked about it because it happened to be the children's birthday tomorrow. Mrs. Mouse said," I'll get the decorations." Mr. Mouse said," I'll get the food." They scurried out of their mousehole. Mrs. Mouse found a piece of wrapping paper. It said "Happy Birthday!" all over it. She also found some crepe paper and a match. Mr. Mouse found a cupcake and a jellybean. Then they went to the mousehole to get things ready. The next morning Samantha and John woke up and walked into the dining room. Samantha found a wrapped gift by their plate. Suddenly their parents jumped out and yelled," SURPRISE!" They had decorated the dining room with the crepe paper. The cupcake was in the middle of the table. Samantha and John could hardly believe what they were seeing! "Thank you, thank you!" they shouted. Samantha looked at the present and opened it. She found a red jellybean cut in half. She handed one half to John. Then Mr. Mouse struck the match and stuck it in the cupcake. The children blew it out and they all shared the cake. It was the best birthday of John and Samantha's lives! |
