Vacation

Mrs. Mouse looked at the food her husband had brought. Three peas. "Why is there no food?" she asked.

"They've gone on vacation," Mr. Mouse replied. "There's no left-overs or crumbs. This is all I could get."

John and Samantha looked up in interest from their checkers game.

"Vacation?" John asked. His father nodded.

"Why can't we go on vaction?" inquired Samantha, jumping one of John's pieces. John glared at her.

"Where would we go?" asked Mrs. Mouse. "There's no possible way we could go on a vacation so I would just drop the subject!"

"Actually," Mr. Mouse began. "There is something called The Mouse Lodge by the park. It's a great hotel for mice and they have cooks and stuff. There's entertainment and everything. I've always wanted to go and I think we all could use a vacation." He looked around.

"Wow!" John cried, leaping up from the floor. "Can we go, please?"

"It sounds great," Mrs. Mouse said longingly. "How long would we stay?"

"Well, they're not coming back for another month," Mr. Mouse said thoughtfully. "I think two weeks would be okay. What do you say?"

"Let's do it!" Mrs. Mouse exclaimed. The children cheered.

Two days later, they were on their way. Each one of them had a suitcase. They walked to The Mouse Lodge laughing and talking about what they were going to do. Finally they arrived.

The Mouse Lodge was a huge underground hotel. Mr. Mouse went up to the desk and asked for a room for four. He gave the mouse behind the desk his credit card and then said," How do you like it, kids?"

Samantha was peering out the window. "It has a pool!" she said in amazement. "I can't wait to go for a swim!"

"I think I see a football field," John added. "Man, this place has everything!"

"Well, let's get to our room," Mr. Mouse said. "We are room 126."

Their hotel room was beautiful. There were two rooms. John and Samantha went to their room to unpack. John got out his football and went out to the field. Samantha unpacked quickly and then went for a swim. Mr. Mouse decided to hit the gym and Mrs. Mouse decided to relax in the jacuzzi.

When they met for dinner, everyone agreed that this was great! It was going to be two weeks in heaven. Dinner was delicious and a mouse orchestra played cheerful music. The Mouse family went to sleep looking forward to another terrific day!
