On the Long Trail Home by Elisabeth J. Stewart Meli is a Cherokee Indian who was captured by the white man She was seperated from her brother, Tahlikwa (Tahli) and she doesn't know where her father is. Then she finds Tahli and they run away to go home. But Tahli gets shot and a boy helps them. Then Meli and Tahli get seperated again and Meli is captured by elderly people who lock her up.
