Cougar, Ghost of the Rockies
by Karen McCall and Jim Dutcher

The author was doing a film documentary about a cougar. They got a pregnant cougar from the zoo. The specifically got a pregnant cougar so they could observe how Catrina raised her cubs. The cougar's name was Catrina.

They put Catrina in a fenced, five-acre place in the Rockies. They studied her through the fence. After they got to know Catrina better, they actually went inside the compound. Catrina became their friend. Then cubs were born. They were named Spook, Casper and Marley, all ghost cats. Spook is a ghost, Marley was dead in the book, A Christmas Carol, and Casper was a ghost. And the cougar is the ghost of the Rockies.

They filmed Catrina and her cubs doing everything together. One day Catrina attacked a camera-man! They stayed away from her for a little while. Then one of Catrina's cubs died. Poor Catrina. She mourned for days. What will become of Catrina now? Find out in this exciting, sad, and thrilling book.
