The Enchanted Woods
Sorceress Marigold Arrives

Hannah flew over to the Ancient Tree. Rose and Rainbow were relaxing under the shade. Hannah flew down and said," Guess what!" Rose looked up and asked," What?" "Someone new is in the Enchanted Woods," Hannah answered excitedly. She loved spreading news. Rainbow glanced at her and said, Really? Who?" Hannah shrugged and said," I don't know who. She has long golden hair and is wearing a magenta dress. She's pretty. I didn't meet her, but I think I'm going to like her." A unicorn trotted up and said," Come to the Fountain of Luck in one hour. There will be a show to introduce Sorceress Marigold." With that, the unicorn turned around and trotted off. Hannah grinned and said," Neat! That new person must be Sorceress Marigold." Flutter, Hope, Sugar, and Mistie were all in Hope's cave. Trust, the unicorn messager had just arrived and they were talking about Sorceress Marigold. "I hear she's a butterfly sorceress," Flutter said worridly. "I wonder what she does." Hope smiled and said," She won't do anything bad to butterflies. If she does, we'll throw her out of the woods." Sugar flew in circles and said," It's almost time. Let's go!" They went to the Fountain of Luck and stood around in the small clearing around the fountain, leaving room for Sorceress Marigold. Then she arrived. She had braided her golden hair and was carrying a small silver wand. She smiled sweetly at her audience and began. She waved her wand, and butterflies appeared from nowhere and began to dance. Sugar watched, her face glowing, and whispered," I wish I could dance that well." Then the butterflies disappeared and Sorceress Marigold turned into a butterfly herself and flew around the clearing. Next, the one butterfly turned into dozens and they weaved patterns in the air. Suddenly, only Sorceress Marigold stood there. Everybody clapped and cheered, then hushed. "I have come to live in your forest," Sorceress Marigold annonced in a sweet voice. Grace, a unicorn, trotted alongside Sorceress Marigold and said, "I think you should rule us, sort of. Maybe organize shows and things. We don't have stuff like that very often." There were cheers from the crowd and Sorceress Marigold laughed. "I would be glad to," she said. Then she transformed herself into a butterfly and flew away. Everybody loved the performance and Sorceress Marigold became their leader, even though nobody elected her or suggested it. She organized shows and was consulted when problems arose.
