The Enchanted Woods
Left Out Mistie

One fine day in the Enchanted Woods, Mistie was looking for her friends, Hope and Sugar. She floated down to the Fountain of Luck, where the three of them met each day unless they decided otherwise. Hope and Sugar were sitting on the edge of the fountain, whispering. Mistie flew up to them and said cheerfully, "Hi! What are you two talking about?" Hope glanced at Sugar and said," Oh, stuff." Sugar giggled and said," Yeah." Mistie smiled and asked," What kind of stuff?" Sugar frowned. "We can't tell you that," she replied. "Sorry." Hope nodded and said," No clouds allowed. Good-bye!" They started whispering again. Mistie floated away, feeling hurt. She wandered around the Enchanted Woods until she found Flutter and her butterfly friends: Hannah, Rose, and Rainbow. "Hello," said Mistie. Flutter looked up and said," Oh! Hi, Mistie. Could you please go away. We're working on something." Mistie looked at the ground, which was covered with little scraps of paper and flowers. "Can I help?" she asked. Hannah shook her head. "No," she said. "We're sorry." Then they turned back to their work. Mistie sighed. "What's wrong with everybody?" she asked herself. "They're all acting strange." She found a grasshopper and they played hopscotch, but Mistie didn't have much fun. She was busy worrying about her friends. The next day, she couldn't find Hope, Sugar, or the butterflies anywhere. So she went up to her home in the raInbow and said," Mom, my friends won't talk to me anymore." Her cloud mother looked at her in surprise and said," They won't?" She smiled a secret smile. "I'm sure they don't mean to be rude. Go out and have some fun for an hour. But come back!" Mistie was confused, but after an hour in the woods, she came back home to find that nobody was there. Just when she was going to go back into the woods, creatures jumped out from everywhere and yelled," Surprise!" Mistie gasped. Hope, Sugar, and the butterflies were all there! Her mother emerged from the kitchen, with plates of air buns and cotton candy. Hope and Sugar came up to her and Hope said," Sorry we've been ignoring you. We were planning this party!" Mistie forgave them and they all went and had fun!
