The Magic Button

Lisa was walking to school one day when she spotted a button on the ground. It said, "WISH!" Lisa picked it up and pinned it onto her shirt. As she walked to school, Lisa saw Amy up ahead and ran to catch up. "Hi, Lisa!" Amy said. "Hi," Lisa said. "It's Monday. Did you bring your lunch?" The school lunch was terrible on Monday. Amy shook her head and asked," Did you?" Lisa frowned and said," Nope. I wish that the lunch was pizza and chocolate pudding on Monday's." Amy grinned and said," Yeah, but they never serve yummy food like that." Lisa shrugged and said, "Let's get to school."

When lunch time came, Amy joined Lisa in line and joked," Maybe we'll be lucky and get pizza." They went inside and came back out carrying their trays with puzzled expressions on their faces. Lisa sat down at a table and looked at her pizza. Amy set her tray down next to Lisa's and dragged her spoon in her chocolate pudding. Lisa said, slowly," I can't believe my wish came true." Amy took a bite of pizza and said," Well. it's good. This is one Monday lunch I'll never forget." Lisa nodded in agreement.

The next day, when Lisa was sitting in social studies class, she decided to make another wish, to see if it came true. Just a little one. She wished for five dollars to be in her pocket and reached inside. No money. But she did feel that button. She had stuck it in her pocket that morning and forgotten about it. She took it out now and pinned it on and wished that her teacher would go away. Suddenly, the teacher, Mrs. Lawson, got a funny look on her face. She opened the door and walked away. The class waited in silence for a few minutes, and then started to whisper in confusion. Amy came over to Lisa and said," That was weird. Wonder what happened." Lisa whispered," I think I know." Amy leaned closer and said," Tell me!" "Well," Lisa started. "I found this butten yesterday right before I wished for the food. That came true. Just now, I wished for five bucks and it didn't come true. I wasn't wearing the button then, though. So I put in on and just wished for Mrs. Lawson to go away. And she went. So I think I have a magic button." Amy let this sink in and said," Are you sure?" Lisa nodded. Amy grinned. "Wish something." Lisa thought for a moment and said," I wish that I lived in a mansion." Amy smiled and said," I'll walk home with you and we'll see if that came true."

Amy met Lisa after school and they walked to Lisa's house. But when they got there, they found that the ordinary house that used to be there was gone. A stately mansion was there instead. Amy and Lisa stared in awe. Amy said," That's amazing! Do it again." Lisa giggled and said," I wish that we could fly." Amy jumped up and suddenly soared into space. Lisa laughed and called," Wait for me!" They flew around the neighborhood for a while until Lisa said," We'd better go home now. I wish that we were at home and couldn't fly and I wish that my house was back."

Lisa sat on her bed and thought about what she had discovered. Now she could wish for anything! "I wish that I had straight A's and I wish that I had a lot of candy in my room." Lisa screamed as she was buried in candy and it kept coming until she cried," I wish I just had a grocery bag full of candy!" The flow of sweets stopped and it all disappeared and what Lisa was left with was a bag of candy. She hid it in her closet and went to sleep. Tomorrow would be a fun day!

Lisa went to Amy's house after school and they decided to wish for one thing each. Amy wished that she had a kitten and Lisa wished that she had a pet lion that hated burgalars but was friendly to everyone else. And she also wished that she had enough money to feed it. After that, Lisa went home to her lion and Amy played with her kitten.

Lisa found the lion too tiring so she wished for a kitten instead. Now she had a furry ball of fun. She then wished that she was a millionare and a famous dancer. When she went to school the next day, she went in a limousine that was shiny and black. The whole school was watching her and they were cheering.
