Unicorn Magic

Two faeries were flying along, talking to each other. They were good faeries and loved to do good deeds. Well, a very good deed was waiting for them. . .

Anna was riding her bicycle with her friend, when suddenly a white cat jumped in front of her. The cat didn't seem to move, so Anna swerved. She fell off the bike and when she fell, the most horrible thing happened!

"Broke her arm?" Silver the unicorn asked the two faeries that had seen it all. "Oh no! This is terrible!" Silver still remembered the way Anna had brought him food when he was young and stranded on Earth. His mother had flown her little babies into the forest, but when she went back, she forgot Silver. It was Anna that had saved him from starving.

"Where is she?" Silver asked. "Since she was kind to me, I'll heal her arm." The faeries looked at each other and one of them said," We don't know where she is. But we'll find out." Silver shook his head. "There's no time," he said. "I'll have to go and ask the wisest creature in the world where to find her." Silver knew the faeries had a reputation for forgetting things.

Silver trotted to small house where a magician lived. He needed to get a potion that would enable him to breathe under water, for the wisest creature was a mermaid and she dwelt in the ocean.

"What have you come for?" the magician asked grumpily. Silver explained his problem and asked," Can you help me?" The magician thought about it. "Yes," he finally said. "But I will need a small amount of your magic to do it," Silver nodded and lowered his head. The magician drained some magic from his horn and went into a back room. When he came back, he was holding a bowl of bright pink liquid. "Drink this and you will be able to breathe under water for one hour." he said. "Thank you." Silver said gratefully. He bent down and drank up every drop of the potion. Then he turned and ran for the ocean.

When he got to the ocean, Silver plunged in and started swimming down. There was only about 45 minutes left. The unicorn looked in every cave until he came to one that was guarded by the skeleton of a huge shark. Silver swam in and asked," Is anybody here?"

"What do you want?" a voice like the tinkling of bells asked. "I seek the wise mermaid," Silver answered. "It is a matter of great importance." There was silence and then the voice asked," What do you want?" "I need to know where Anna lives," the unicorn replied.

A beautiful mermaid with a light green tail and long red hair floated out of nowhere and asked," Are you Silver the unicorn?" she asked. Silver nodded. "I've been waiting for you." the mermaid said. "I knew you would come and ask me that." Silver swam foward and said," Do you know where she lives?" The mermaid nodded and gave him Anna's address. Then she sank back into the shadows. "Thank you." Silver siad.

He swam back up to the surface, which was luckily near the door to Earth. The door to Earth was a square of blue mist. SIlver plunged into it and felt himself falling. He landed in a grassy area and immediately began to hunt for Anna's house.

In one hour, he found it. He flew up to her bedroom window and managed to get inside.

Anna could hardly believe her eyes. "Silver!" she cried. "What are you doing here?" Silver knew Anna couldn't understand unicorn language, so he gestured towards her broken arm with his horn. Then he went over to her and put the tip of his horn on her right wrist. He could feel his magic gathering up and in a few seconds, Anna's arm was healed. Silver knew he couldn't stay and so, with a gentle neigh, he flew out the window and back to his own world, never to be seen on Earth again.
